INTERCEPTOR Hacking tools tier list
S-tier is the file that moves two guards. F-tier is a jam you cannot afford.
This list ranks the devices you actually touch in INTERCEPTOR. It is the loadout page for a game without guns. Pair it with the hacking guide for verbs and the tier list hub for routes and modes.
S-tier
CommanderSnoringNoise1.mp3 on the intercom. Moves the east entrance pair. Without it, the gate is a wall with guns you do not have. Canonical and dirty clears both want this file. See the Cell Block security-room notes.
Specialist credentials / shutters. Line-of-sight scissors. High Security lives here because jam is budgeted. If you only upgrade one habit after your first death, upgrade shutter timing.
Intercept + close. Not a named item, but the core tool. A camera you own and then put away is worth more than a camera you live inside. Controls exist because people forget the close.
A-tier
East entrance access (file). Required, but not sufficient. It opens permission; snore opens space. Still A because you cannot leave without it.
Commander credentials. Same bucket: required key, not a toy.
Donuts. Physical A-tier for roamers who are not on the gate. Cheap, funny, and documented by players who used them to buy a High Security window.
B-tier
Control-center disable on default. Strong on a first clear, a trap if it becomes your personality. Drops to C or below on High Security because of the cap.
CellRecordingAccess.scos. Community-requested file on a specific person. Cool, situational, not on the three-file critical path. Logged under NPCs.
Camera rotate after intercept. Excellent when the cam still exists. Some feeds were removed; do not B-tier a ghost.
C-tier
Forklift / engineer dialogue hacks. Character writing, not a speedtech. Fine after a catch, bad for canonical.
Dumping FunnyRecordings besides the snore track. Extra joke audio. Time spent here is laptop risk.
Ping / distract spam without a plan. Makes noise. Sometimes useful, often a cone magnet.
D / avoid
Universal ESP or noclip. Not a tool the demo ships. Not listed on script status. Ranking it would be lying.
Promo codes as “tools.” None active. Codes.
Living in the phone overlay. The worst “tool.” It hides the real cone.
Mode modifiers
On default, jam climbs. On High Security, jam falls and shutters climb. On INTERSWEEPER, none of these tools matter except your brain and flags — different extra, guide here. Chase recoveries are not a tool; they are a consolation prize after a failed S-tier plan. Rank chase as a mode on difficulty, not as a gadget.
Use this page as a pre-run card: snore, shutters, three credentials, donuts if you have hands free. Everything else is flavor. For which hallway to spend those tools on, open stealth routes.
A note on intercept versus jam, because they get mixed in chat. Intercept is “I see what they see.” Jam is “I spend a budget to blind a node.” Canonical play loves intercept. High Security hates unbudgeted jam. If you only remember one sentence from this list, remember that pair.
Donuts versus snore is the other mix-up. Snore is for the east pair. Donuts are for a loner on a loop. Using pastry on the gate is a waste of a unique S-tier file you still have to go find. Using snore on a random roamer is overkill and burns a setup you needed for the ending.
Forklift dialogue stays C-tier even if you love the writing. NPCs will keep the joke; this list keeps the ranking honest. Tools that require a catch cannot be S-tier on a badge route.
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers for stealth, hacking, and the 2026 hiatus.
What is the best tool in INTERCEPTOR?
The snore file plus shutters. Intercept-and-close is the skill that makes both work.
Is jam still good?
On default, yes. On High Security it is budgeted and often worse than shutters.
Are donuts a joke item?
They are a real distraction for roamers. Joke tone, A-tier effect.
Where do I learn to use these tools?
The hacking guide and the Cell Block walkthrough.
