INTERCEPTOR INTERSWEEPER

The multiplayer extra that tests online play without spoiling Chapter 1.

INTERSWEEPER Guide

INTERSWEEPER is not Chapter 2. It is a minesweeper-style extra Y3550R shipped when experimental multiplayer landed, complete with an in-level board that explains the rules. Bring a friend. Treat it as a lobby toy bolted onto a stealth demo, not as a replacement for the Cell Block.

This page sits with the other tutorials in the guides hub. For the patch that added it, see dev notes and the patch log.

How to play

The official art for the extra is a grid with numbered tiles, flags, and a whiteboard that literally says the rules: numbers, mines around unknown tiles, flags to mark mines, simple logic. If you have played minesweeper, you already know 80% of INTERSWEEPER. The INTERCEPTOR twist is the wrapping: you are still in Y3550R’s tone, you can still fail in front of a friend, and High Security exists as a board challenge, not as the campaign toggle.

Steps:

  1. From the extras tab (added in Update 6, filled later), open INTERSWEEPER.
  2. Read the in-world board. Do not skip it; the wiki will not override a rule the developer wrote on a whiteboard.
  3. Set or note the RNG seed from the main menu / F9 console if you want a repeatable grid. Seed 3550 was a developer joke on extras.
  4. Flag, open, communicate. Multiplayer is work-in-progress: quality-of-life gaps and bugs were warned on the patch that added it.
  5. Finish for the completion badge. Push High Security on the extra for the second badge called out in Update 10.

Badges

Update 10 added two INTERSWEEPER badges: one for completing the extra on High Security, and another for a second condition documented in the notes as “something else” at the time. If you are badge hunting, clear default first so you learn the grid language, then toggle the harder board. This is separate from campaign High Security.

Multiplayer expectations

Y3550R warned that multiplayer was unfinished: missing QoL, possible glitches, chase-system tweaks to stay compatible. Do not host INTERSWEEPER as a serious competitive ladder. Do host it as the only intended “play with friends online” slice of INTERCEPTOR. Chapter 1 remains a solo stealth puzzle even though the experience max player count is 50.

If a partner wants to inject a solver script, send them the scripts hub. A minesweeper solver on a teaching extra is how you miss the point twice.

How this extra relates to the campaign

INTERSWEEPER does not skip Cell Block files, does not grant Canonical Playthrough I, and does not replace hacking. It exists because adding online to a stealth narrative is hard, and a grid is a safer test than eight people in the same prison wing. Chase System Test is the other extra tile — a stealth AI sandbox, not a sweeper.

When Chapter 2 eventually appears, it will not be “INTERSWEEPER but longer.” Keep extras and campaign mentally separate so tier lists stay readable.

If the extras tab is empty, you are on a very early build or the experience is in hiatus. Confirm the version on the end screen, then match it to the patch log.
